Sandra has been a dear friend since high school. Our lives have taken us different places over the last 15 years and though we might not see each other all the time, when we do, it’s like no time has passed! When Sandra and Julio got engaged, I had an immediate feeling of “yes!” I am sure there were people that said, “well, about time” (does that comment annoy you as much as it does me?!) but I know that these two have taken their time in life, made smart decisions and have truly built a strong, lasting partnership. I am so happy to have been able to capture their engagement. As much as we celebrate weddings, taking a moment to celebrate being engaged is sometimes just as important! This is the time when there are endless emails with your vendors, decisions on color palette, theme and how many guests to invite and money flying out the door faster than anyone can imagine! I love to encourage couples to bask in the engaged glow and savor this time together before they enter into married life.
I am always searching for new shoot locations and even though I have photographed many times in the Presidio and on the beaches of San Francisco, this shoot was all new territory! Sandra prioritizes her health and being as active as possible, so when I suggested a beach that is a .5 mile hike downhill, I knew she would be up for it! I don’t think I anticipated how hard the trek would be with all my gear but it was well worth it! We couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque day and were rewarded with a beautiful golden sunset.
